The Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy

The Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy (TFED) creates and implements activities that connect the practice of international diplomacy to higher education. Our focus is on transatlantic relations, and the role of the humanities in enhancing cultural literacy and fostering global understanding.

In collaboration with UNC Global Affairs, TFED brings leading diplomats, scholars, and global affairs experts to UNC,  enriching the academic environment through guest lectures, seminars, and webinars. By facilitating these exchanges, TFED aims to inspire critical discourse and cross-cultural collaboration within the broader community.

On Thursday, February 27, at 5:45 PM, TFED hosted Professor Harold Hongju Koh, Sterling Professor of International Law at Yale, and former Dean of Yale Law School and Legal Adviser to the U.S. Department of State.

Public Service Experience:
Reagan Administration: Attorney-Adviser, Office of Legal Counsel, U.S. Department of Justice
Clinton Administration: Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor
Obama Administration: Legal Adviser, U.S. Department of State

This event was a unique opportunity for those interested in law, diplomacy, and global affairs to engage with one of the foremost experts in international law.

TFED is pleased to announce its partnership with UNC Global Affairs, in collaboration with Ambassador Barbara Stephenson, UNC Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Chief Global Officer.

Ambassador Stephenson joined UNC students for a special lecture on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 PM at 5 PM.
